Lo and behold the five numbers came up making that ticket worth over one million dollarsThink of what you could do with a million bucks. Anyone who_s EVER bought a lottery ticket has planned what they_d do with the money if they won. But the thing is there_s no lottery money fairy that brings you your cash. You actually have to CHECK your numbers and CLAIM your winnings. And that_s where this guy seriously effed up.There_s a limited time allowed to collect winnings. In California that_s a hundred and eighty days. And that hundred and eighty days just ended. Leaving this winner a LOSER. Before the time limit ran out lottery officials had released video showing him making his purchase and he spotted himself but not only had he not checked the ticket in a timely manner but he_d LOST itLook the lottery is already a voluntary tax. The odds of winning are so small that it_s almost LIKE throwing your money away. But not checking and LOSING your tickets IS throwing your money away. Why would you even bother BUYING tickets? Just give the money to CHARITY and save yourself the trouble of waiting in line at the lotto counter.What_s shocking is that Nguyen isn_t alone. The California Lottery says that over eight HUNDRED MILLION dollars has gone unclaimed in the past 30 years. On the plus side the unclaimed money gets transferred to the state_s public schools.
