Weekend protests over the shooting deaths of two black men by police have resulted in hundreds of arrests. The bulk of the arrests came in Baton Rouge Louisiana and St. Paul Minnesota. In St. Paul the run-ins with protesters also resulted in injuries to 21 police officers. Among the 125 people arrested on Saturday in Baton Rouge was DeRay Mckesson one of the most prominent members of the Black Lives Matter movement. Arrests were also made at various rallies around the country including those in Atlanta New York and Chicago.A protest also turned ugly in Berlin this weekend with over 120 officers injured and 86 demonstrators arrested. About 35-hundred protesters took to the streets in opposition to police actions against squatters in the eastern part of the city. About 18-hundred officers were assigned to the protest which according to reports began peacefully before devolving into violence. Bottles and fireworks were thrown and cars were destroyed leading police to respond with tear gas. And in Spain a professional bullfighter became the first matador to be killed in the ring in over thirty years. 29-year-old Victor Barrio was plying his trade on live TV when the bull flipped in the air and then landed the lethal blow when he hit the ground. Festivities in the town of Teruel were suspended and participants in Sunday_s running of the bulls wore improvised black armbands in tribute.
