Welcome to Naked News, I_m Rachelle Wilde. The US military has sent troops to Jordan to keep an eye on Syria and it_s massive stockpile of chemical weapons. US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta made the announcement following a NATO meeting in Belgium. Panetta says about 150 special ops soldiers are working alongside Jordanian forces. Their goal is to watch the movement of chemical weapons in Syria and to help determine how to respond in the event violence spills into Jordan or any other neighboring countries. American President Barack Obama has warned Syria that any attempts to ship the weapons will prompt an immediate US response. Elsewhere in the region, tensions between Turkey and Syria seem to be escalating. On Wednesday the Turkish air force intercepted a Syrian passenger jet flying over Turkish airspace. Officials suspect the Syrian aircraft was being used to smuggle military equipment over from Russia. Eila Adams joins us now with more on this story. Rachelle twenty-five people were aboard the Damascus-bound Airbus A-3-20 when it was intercepted and led back to the Turkish capital of Ankara. This came after Turkey received intel of a possible weapons transfer aboard the aircraft. The country_s foreign minister would not give any specifics as to the type of illicit cargo. He said it is unacceptable that these types of transfers are being made over its airspace. Turkey has upped the rhetoric Rachelle by threatening a violent response should shelling continue near its shared border with Syria. Back to you. Thanks for the story Eila. On the technology front, the makers of one of the world_s most popular web browsers have egg on their face after a MASSIVE security flaw was discovered in their latest update. Our resident tech-spert Katherine Curtis has been following the developments. What_s the latest Kat? If you use Mozilla Firefox to watch the program, you_ll want to hear this. A huge security hole has been discovered in the latest update. Mozilla released a statement saying that the vulnerability could allow a malicious site to access a user_s entire search history. This affects the latest update - Firefox 16, which has since been taken offline. Mozilla says if you haven_t upgraded yet, you should be fine. If you HAVE, or if it was automatically updated, they advise that you downgrade to the previous version.You can do so by going to the link on your screen right now. The non-profit company says that only a small number of their 450-million users have been affected so far. Back to you Rachelle.Thanks for that Kat. Welcome to Naked News everyone. We_ve got a jam-packed program for you today and what better place to start than in New York City. Representatives from 193 countries have convened in the big apple for the 2012 United Nations General Assembly. Not surprisingly, the man getting much of the media spotlight is U.S. President Barack Obama. With more, here_s Victoria Sinclair and Erica Stevens in the newsroom. Thanks Eila. Obama took a measured-yet-forceful stance in his speech, once again condemning the recent wave of Islamic violence stemming from the controversial _Innocence of Muslims_ Internet video. The President certainly didn_t mince words, stating quote, There is no video that justifies an attack on an embassy. There is no slander that provides an excuse for people to burn a restaurant in Lebanon or cause death and destruction in Pakistan.Obama also reaffirmed the United States_ commitment to ensuring Iran does not pose any threat to Israeli sovereignty. Speaking to the dozens of world leaders gathered at the assembly, he pledged that a multi-country coalition will exercise all available options to prevent the Middle Eastern nation from obtaining nuclear weapons. Not surprisingly, Obama_s comments were in stark contrast to those made by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad before reporters at the UN assembly. The contentious Iranian president spoke bluntly about the legitimacy of his Israeli neighbors, saying quote, Iran has been Iran for the last seven to ten thousand years. Israelis have been occupying that territory for 60 years - they have no roots there in history. Ahmadinejad also stressed that an Israeli attack on his country could have dire consequences for U.S. bases stationed in the Middle East. That said, he did walk back his comments from several years ago suggesting Israel should be wiped off the map. Instead, the president stressed he simply wants the Jewish state to change its aggressive behavior. And lastly, the World Health Organization has put out a global alert over what it fears is a newly-discovered SARS-like illness. The severe respiratory infection is believed to be a specific strain of coronavirus. It has been found in two people this year, most recently in a 49-year-old Qatari man traveling to Saudi Arabia. The unnamed man is currently quarantined at a hospital in London, England, where his condition has been listed as critical. Viral specialists caution that with only two known cases of the illness, it_s still too early to tell whether it could eventually expand into a full-blown epidemic. Well, having dealt firsthand with the SARS hysteria in Toronto back in 2003, I can only hope this new illness doesn_t spread any further. Thereis no immediate link to Montreal murder suspect Luka Magnotta, but a hand and foot from his victim Jun (JOON) Lin are still unaccounted for, along with his head.LAURA) Meanwhile in Berlin, Magnotta will not fight extradition to Canada. However, Montreal police say they donit see any need to rush the process. A police spokesperson says that theyire not even close to completing their investigation. Theyire also investigating claims of animal cruelty, and rumors that Magnotta once dated notorious killer Karla Homolka.2. RW) In Wisconsin, Governor Scott Walker was able to hold on to his job after winning a recall vote.With most votes counted, he was ahead of his challenger n Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett - by a 7 percent margin. That margin of victory is actually greater than the last time he beat Barrett in 2010.LAURA) Walker has been a polarizing figure both in Wisconsin and around the US. Republicans consider him a hero for pushing measures that strip collective bargaining rights from public unions. Walkeris opposition pointed out that his camp outspent the unions by a 7-to-1 margin in this campaign, with 70-percent of that coming from out of state.3. RW) And Republicans in the US Senate have blocked a bill that would have guaranteed that women are paid the same as their male equivalents. 60 votes were needed to pass the bill, but it was defeated 52-47. All Senate Republicans voted against the Paycheck Fairness Act, including the 5 female GOP senators.LAURA) The bill would have forced employers to prove that any wage differences between women and men in the same position wasnit gender-related. Furthermore, employers wouldnit be able to punish employees for sharing pay information with each other. PP) And as Victoria Sinclair is about to explain, authorities on both sides of the border are willing to make a rare exception. VS) Thanks ladies, and whatever he does, he better not look down An American daredevil has just been granted Canadian government clearance to attempt a tightrope walk across Niagara Falls The approximately 40 minute long walk will be done on a custom made 2 inch thick rope, 220 feet above the gorge. And if he succeeds he_ll be the first in history to do so. 33-year old Nik Wallenda will attempt the 18-hundred foot stunt some time this summer. He says it_s been a dream of his since he was 6 years old. Nik is a seventh-generation member of the famous Flying Wallenda family. Officials say they_re making the exception based on his expertise, and it_ll be at least another twenty years before anyone gets the chance to try the stunt again. It also helps that the spectacular act should bring in millions in revenue for the region. Plus Nik has a deal with the Discovery Channel to broadcast the event live. Those with more discerning palettes better listen up A Dutch antique collector is selling off his amazing collection of 5-thousand cognac bottles. Topping the list is a bottle from 1795 taken for officers in Napoleon_s army. The bottle alone is estimated to be worth 197 thousand dollars But if you want one, you_ve got to buy them all The entire collection is valued at 7-point-9 million, and was started way back in 1880 by his great grandfather. And so much for finders_ keepers A US federal judge has just ruled that an American deep-sea salvage company must return over 500 million dollars worth of ancient coins to the Spanish government. Odyssey Marine Exploration spent more than 2 million dollars in operating costs to recover the coins, which were lost in an 1804 shipwreck off the coast of Portugal. The US team made the discovery in 2007 and the battle for ownership has been in legal limbo ever since. That_s what I call a case of BAD luck. Our top story today once again comes out of Syria.VS) That_s right. Russia_s involvement in the conflict there has been a major cause for concern amongst western powers.ES) And those fears will only be heightened with this latest development. Russia is sending two warships - and hundreds of marines - to the region. VS) This is your news off the top1. VS) Two Russian amphibious assault ships are en route for Syrian waters, and will be docking in the port of Tartus. Moscow says that the ships have been deployed to protect Russian personnel and equipment in the event of a full-scale evacuation. Syria is a major stronghold for Russia in the Middle East, and the port of Tartus is their only naval base outside of the former Soviet Union. ES) The Russian naval base there is believed to house very sophisticated electronic eavesdropping gadgets, and there are rumors that it could be attacked by Syrian rebels. The two ships could carry as many as 600 troops, which will be used to dismantle the base. However, other intelligence reports claim the ships will be carrying anti-aircraft missiles and other heavy artillery for the Syrian army.2. VS) In other news today, Myanmar human rights champion Aung San Suu Kyi (ONG SAN SOO CHEE) is making a landmark visit to the United Kingdom. The formerly imprisoned political activist and leader kicked things off with a debate at the London School of Economics. It_s her first trip to Europe since 1988.ES) Suu Kyi will spend 4 days in the UK, and her stay will include visits with the royal family and members of British parliament. It_s just part of a 2-week international tour that has sparked hopes of true political reform in Myanmar. Suu Kyi will also be making stops in Switzerland, France, and Norway. 3. VS) Canadian murder suspect Luka Magnotta has been extradited and returned home. The 29-year old, accused of killing a Montreal university student and putting his body parts in the mail, was the focus of an international manhunt until he was apprehended in Berlin on June fourth. Magnotta landed at Montreal_s Mirabel airport Monday night.ES) Canadian detectives planned to interrogate Magnotta ahead of his initial court appearance in Quebec. Canadian government officials thanked Germany for helping to catch the fugitive, and for his swift extradition home. When his case goes to court, it will be one of the most closely watched Canadian trials in years Vic. VS) No doubt about that. It_s comforting to know he_ll face justice here on Canadian soil.ES) Indeed. In Libya, four Americans, including US Ambassador Christopher Stevens, have been killed in an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi.And believe it or not this was all caused by by a controversial film. Let_s send you over to the NakedNews where Vic and Kat have the story. Infuriated by a US-produced film that mocks Islam and the Prophet Mohammed, armed men stormed the US consulate in Benghazi. Stevens and the 3 others were killed by a rocket attack. The killings were condemned by both US President Obama and Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagur.Similar protests also targeted the US embassy in Egypt, where the American flag was torn apart. Security has been beefed up at US Embassies around the world in the wake of the protests. The film in question, titled Innocence of Muslims, was produced by California real-estate developer Sam Bacile, who has since gone into hiding.At least 261 people are dead after fires swept through two factories in Pakistan. In the worst of the two in Karachi, 236 lives were claimed as flames ripped through a garment factory. One survivor claims that grills on the windows prevented people from escaping, and that anyone who complained about safety in the past were fired.The owners of the garment factory fled, prompting a police man hunt to find them. Meanwhile in Lahore, 25 workers perished after a suspected generator malfunction sparked a fire. A gate prevented workers from leaving. The blazes have prompted a government inspection of all factories and plants in the province within 48 hours.The US is asking for a calm, diplomatic resolution in the dispute between Japan and China over a chain of islands. China has sent two patrol ships to the East China Sea to keep an eye on the islands, which both countries lay claim to. Last week, Japan finalized a deal to purchase the islands from their private owner, a move that isn_t sitting well with Beijing.The US won_t take sides in the dispute, but is asking for cooler heads to prevail. Diplomats say that the region is the cockpit of the global economy and that it_s imperative to maintain peace. The islands are desirable because they_re located in a major shipping lane, and are also near suspected gas deposits.And that_s your first look at today_s NAKED news everyone. Tuesday was a busy night in US politics with 3 important GOP primaries taking place.PP) And no one is more thrilled today then Mitt Romney. He had quite the night - going 3 for 3.RW) Eila Adams was watching, and joins us now in the newsroom with the latest.EA) Thanks ladies, it was a clean sweep for Mitt Romney He won all three primaries held Tuesday night: Maryland, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.The victories give Romney more than half of the delegates he needs to clinch the Republican nomination for president. Just as important, it widened the gap between him and his GOP rivals. But his closest competitor, Rick Santorum, said he had no intention of backing down. He_s going to push hard to narrow the gap in the 5 primaries being held on April 24th, including his important home state of Pennsylvania.In other news, parts of Texas are reeling after several huge tornadoes touched down in the Dallas area. According to the National Weather Service, between 6 and 13 twisters hit, destroying hundreds of homes and vehicles. One twister was so powerful that it picked up tractor-trailers and threw them around like toys. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport after the extreme weather damaged over a hundred planes. Amazingly, no fatalities have been reported. The recently-freed Columbian hostages have opened up about the ordeal they lived through for over 10 years. The 6 police officers and 4 soldiers say the Farc rebels had them in chains for years - often chained to each other. Two of the hostages managed to escape into the jungle, but after a month of wandering around lost they were recaptured. Doctors have examined the hostages and say that they are all in relatively good health. It_s unknown how many hostages that guerillas still hold, but it_s believed to be at least 100. In the meantime, France_s president Nicolas Sarkozy (nee-koh-LAH sahr-koh-ZEE) being voted out of office is today_s top story. It_s the end of the Nicolas Sarkozy era in France. He was defeated by socialist challenger Francois Hollande (frahn-SWAH oh-LAWND) in a run-off election on Sunday. It was far from a runaway result though - Hollande won the election with just an estimated 51-point-6 percent of the vote. Hollande celebrated his win, calling it a new start for Europe. Meanwhile, Sarkozy conceded defeat and accepted the full responsibility for his loss. Voters showed up in droves - with a voter turnout of an estimated 80 percent. Hollande will become France_s first left-wing president since 1995.And it wasn_t just France holding elections this weekend - voters went to the polls in Greece as well. But the end result was FAR from definitive. Erica Stevens has been tracking the developments there and she_s standing by with the results. Nice to have you back Erica. ES) Thank you very much Eila. Being in the newsroom here feels like I never left Anyway, all the major Greek parties suffered setbacks at the polls, and no single party came close to a majority. The right-leaning New Democracy Party - part of the present ruling coalition - fared the best with 19-percent support and 109 seats. But that_s just half of the support they received in 2009. The wide-ranging results appear to be a backlash against the strict austerity measures that have been put into place. There are two options now. Either a new coalition has to be formed, or they_ll have to set a date for a new election. Politicians have until May seventeenth to figure something out.ES) And guess who_s back in Russia? After serving four years in the lesser role of Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin has once again been inaugurated as President. The controversial leader was sworn in on Monday, and needless to say, not everyone was elated. Police in Moscow arrested roughly 120 protesters, many of whom accused Putin of stealing the election through widescale voter fraud. Russia_s newly-amended constitution gives the former KGB agent a guaranteed six-year term, and if re-elected Eila, he could remain as president until the year 2024. Our top story today comes out of the Middle East.The leader of Hezbollah has issued an ominous warning to the US should Israel launch an attack on Iran.Here_s the story.In an interview on Lebanese TV, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned that if Israel launches a strike on Iranian nuclear sites, the terrorist group will strike back with attacks on US bases in the Middle East. According to Nasrallah, if Israel targets Iran, America bears responsibility, whether the US is involved in the strike or not. Over the weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked world powers to set a quote clear red line to dissuade Iran from pursuing nuclear capabilities. That sparked fears of a possible strike from Israel before the upcoming US election. But despite the heightened rhetoric, Nasrallah said he doubts an attack will happen any time soon, mainly because of the economic impact a war in the Gulf would have on oil prices. In Thailand, one of the heirs to the Red Bull fortune was arrested on hit and run charges. Vorayuth Yoovidhya, the grandson of Red Bull founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, allegedly hit a police officer with his Ferrari while speeding through the residential streets of Bangkok at dawn. The officer_s body and motorcycle were dragged a fair distance. Police traced oil streaks on the asphalt back to the family_s gated home in a wealthy district of Bangkok. Bangkok_s most senior police official is handling the case, but only after it was discovered that a lower-level officer had brought in a fake suspect in an attempted cover up. The Yoovidhya family is ranked as the fourth richest in Thailand, with an estimated fortune of 5.4 billion dollars.In other news, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed orders to completely overhaul and update the nation_s military. Over the next decade, Russia will spend upwards of 700 billion dollars modernizing its army, which will include 600 new warplanes, a new fleet of submarines and 400 ballistic missiles. Putin says that Russian manufacturers have fallen behind world standards of the past few decades. Russia has seen its military power slip since the end of the Cold War. As a result, Russia could seek a partnership with foreign companies to catch up. The sweeping changes are being called the country_s greatest since the Stalin era of the 1930_s. During his address, Obama reached out to China and Russia, asking them to join the US in reducing nuclear arsenals and bringing the world closer to his ultimate goal. The president also challenged North Korea to have the courage to pursue peace, and urged Pyongyang against its upcoming long-range missile launch. Unfortunately, it appears the American President_s plea fell on deaf ears. Shortly after his speech on nuclear weapons, North Korea delivered a poignant response of its own, proving that actions really do speak louder than words. For more on the latest in the region we_ll hand things over to Peyton Priestly. Peyton?PP) Natasha, just hours after Obama_s challenge to North Korea, Pyongyang responded by rolling a long-range test-fire rocket onto a launch pad. The rogue state insists that the launch, scheduled for mid-April, is friendly. They claim they_re trying to put a new satellite into orbit. However neighboring nations, including South Korea, see it as an attempt to develop nuclear capabilities. The incident has cast a dark cloud over the ongoing nuclear summit in Seoul, where world powers are discussing methods of dealing with nuclear terrorism. Needless to say Nat, the situation is very tense. NO) Sounds like Kim Jong-Un (KIHM JAWNG-OON) has taken a page right out of his father_s playbook. PP) It does doesn_t it. South Korea_s understandably worried that if the rocket fails, it will fall somewhere over their territory. Thanks for the report.NO) He_s spent years at the top in Hollywood, but now Oscar-winning director James Cameron has set his sights on sinking to the darkest depths of the world_s oceans On Monday morning, Cameron touched bottom in Challenger Deep. It_s a chasm (KAZM) located in the western Pacific_s Mariana Trench. Cameron descended to more than 35-thousand feet. To put that into perspective, that_s deeper than Mount Everest is high To get there, Cameron and a team of engineers spent eight years building a high-tech vessel. The director is the third person to reach Challenger Deep, but is the first one to do it alone. We_ve been tracking a developing story out of Japan concerning last year_s nuclear meltdown.An independent panel has released its long-awaited report on the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, and the document doesn_t mince words Erica.OH BOY, not at all Investigators say it was a completely man made disaster.This is your NEWS OFF THE TOP The Japanese parliament report pins the blame for the March 11th meltdown on the plant_s operator, nuclear regulators, and Japan_s own government. All three failed to develop the most basic safety requirements. TEPCO, the plant operator, is being blamed for poor employee training. The report found that the lack of knowledge of TEPCO workers dramatically reduced their ability to effectively deal with the crisis.Investigators also concluded that the direct causes of the accident were all foreseeable prior to March 11th 2011. One of the more interesting points the report made was about Japanese culture and how it contributed to the disaster. A fear of questioning authority, reflexive obedience, and a devotion to (make quotations) sticking with the program all contributed to a crisis the report admits was Made in Japan. Mexico_s election controversy continues. Electoral authorities have decided to recount ballots cast at more than half of polling stations after finding suspicious inconsistencies. This after second-place finisher Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador questioned the results and demanded a recount.Obrador has accused election winner Enrique Pena Nieto of breaking election rules. Nieto_s also denied allegations of vote buying. This is not the first time Obador has fought election results. He launched street protests after narrowly losing the 2006 presidential race to Felipe Calderon.Whistleblowing website WikiLeaks is in the headlines again, this time publishing 2-point-4 million emails from Syrian officials. Among the findings so far is the tight relationship between the regime of Bashar al-Assad, and a noted Italian arms and communications company.Apparently, Finmeccanica n which is 30-percent owned by the Italian government n sold the Syrian government an interception-proof communications system worth 50-million dollars. They also sent engineers to train police and the military to use the technology earlier this year. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says further documents will embarrass not only Syria, but their opponents as well. The teacher was suspended that afternoon and could face further disciplinary action from the school board and even police. Lin_s severed body parts were put in the mail and delivered to various political parties and elementary schools across Canada. Although many of us haven_t noticed, the US government has been quietly beefing up its border security overseas. So far, 14 countries are participating in an unprecedented new program that gives Homeland Security agents the authority to screen passengers at foreign airports. This allows them greater control over who_s allowed clearance to enter the US. To date, 500 people have been turned away after being deemed national security risks. It starts in the South Pacific, where the Philippines has signed an historic peace plan with its largest rebel group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. The deal will put an end to 40 years of fighting that has claimed an estimated 120 thousand lives. Senior anchor Victoria Sinclair has the story. Thanks, Kat. Under the terms of the agreement, an autonomous Muslim region called Bangsamoro will be set up in the south of the mostly Catholic country. Further challenges lie ahead, mind you. The peace plan is considered a framework, meaning both parties have until the end of the year to hammer out the specific details. A senior arbitrator summed up the historic moment saying, quote, The time has come for us to choose the moral high ground. After four decades, peace is within reach.Although the U.S. has long been credited for placing tough economic restrictions on Iran, the E.U. is now stepping up to the plate. Foreign Ministers from several European nations are descending on Luxembourg to announce a fresh round of sanctions against the Middle Eastern state. With more, here_s Laura Connor. Victoria, diplomats say the sanctions will place even heavier constraints on trade, banks, oil, and natural gas imports, with exceptions only being made in the case of medicine and other humanitarian aid. Previous rounds of international sanctions have already caused Iran_s currency - the rial- to lose 80 percent of its value since the beginning of this year. Because of this, analysts believe Iran will be under insurmountable pressure to scrap its controversial nuclear program. And in Afghanistan, authorities destroyed a massive haul of illegal narcotics. 24 tons of heroin, hashish, opium, and alcohol were set ablaze outside of Kabul. And although this represents one of the country_s largest amounts of contraband, even more impressive is the amount of accompanying arrests. A staggering 907 suspects have been detained in connection with the seizure. Afghanistan has long been one of the world_s largest drug producers Vic, accounting for over 90 percent of all Opium production. Now, onto today_s top stories.A major firefight is being reported in the Syrian capital of Damascus. The fighting - between Syrian rebels and security forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad (bah-SHAHR ahl ah-SAHD) - is said to be the fiercest that the capital has seen in the year-long uprising. The heavy fighting erupted in the upscale and heavily guarded al-Mezze (al MAT-say) area. Brazilian authorities say they_re going to press charges against 17 executives from oil giant Chevron as well as drilling contractor Transocean. This comes after a new oil leak was discovered off the Brazilian coast. The executives have been banned from leaving the country while the investigation is ongoing. This new leak is located near the site of a major oil spill last November. Chevron is already facing a multi-billion-dollar lawsuit over last year_s spill. In this latest case, prosecutors say they_ll be filing charges including environmental crimes.Now let_s shift our attention to the US and the latest in the GOP election race. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is coasting into this week_s Illinois primary after CRUSHING his competition in Puerto Rico. Eila Adams has been watching the results, and has all the latest. Eila?EA) Rachelle, unofficial early results say that Romney easily won the territory_s 20 delegates, with around 83-percent of the votes Romney said his win is based on his best-representing the views and feelings of Puerto Ricans. Rick Santorum was a VERY distant second with a mere 8-percent of votes. In Illinois, Romney is expected to eke out a win with a small margin of victory over Santorum. After Illinois, they_ll head to Louisiana, where pollsters predict Santorum will win over Romney.EA) In other news, Apple has been sitting on nearly 100 billion dollars in cash and it just announced what it plans on doing with SOME of that money. It_s been confirmed that come July, shareholders will begin receiving a quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share. It_s the first time Apple has offered a dividend since way back in 1995. And Rachelle, the company has also earmarked 10 billion dollars to buy back some of its own shares over the next three years, back to you.RW) That_s a whole lot of money to be tossing around Eila.EA) It is. I_m Peyton PriestlyAnd I_m Marina Valmont , welcome to Naked News.Our top story today comes out of Syria where the 18-month battle against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad shows no sign of ending.Rebels have just attacked the country_s military headquarters in Damascus with 2 HUGE bombs.Here_s the storyOfficials there say that one of the blasts damaged a key building. Of course, in typical fashion, both sides have differing reports on the overall toll. The Free Syrian Army, which has claimed responsibility for the attack, says that the bombs killed dozens of military personnel.However, Syrian state TV claims there were no fatalities. Reports say that the blasts shook buildings up to half a mile away. During the 18 month conflict, it_s estimated that 27-thousand people have lost their lives. Iran has unveiled yet another new military tool, an unmanned drone. The Shahed 129 drone was created in Iran, has a range of over 12-hundred miles, and can be equipped with bombs and missiles. They claim the drone will be capable of both reconnaissance and combat missions.This comes after Iran claims they brought down an unmanned American RQ-170 Sentinel drone last year. Iran later said they were trying to reverse-engineer it to create their own version. It isn_t clear yet if the Shahed is similar in any way to the Sentinel.US President Barack Obama has spoken out against human trafficking. He called it modern slavery and an outrage. He made the comments speaking at a forum organized by former President Bill Clinton in New York. Obama also called the practice barbaric and evil with no place in a civilized world. Obama went on to tell the Clinton Global Initiative that the White House was unveiling new measures to curb human trafficking. There will be new guidelines in government contracting, and training for prosecutors, judges, and police in how to crack down on the practice. Victims of human trafficking include girls sold into the sex trade and abused workers who make nearly no money. Long overdue if you ask me Marina.Let_s hope it makes a difference. Earlier in the week, President Obama threatened enormous consequences if the Syrian government brought biological or chemical weapons into play against rebels, something they had hinted they might do. But Russia and China warned that they_re committed to keeping the US or any other country from breaking international law.A new NBCWall Street Journal poll shows that the presidential race is getting tighter. President Obama now has a 4 point lead among registered voters n 48 percent to 44 percent. That_s down from July, when Obama had a 6 point lead over Mitt Romney. Women, voters under 35, and Latinos all show a significant lead for the President. But the biggest difference is with black voters, who support Obama by a 94-percent to 0-percent margin.But the more immediate concern for Republicans is weather. There_s a possibility that Tampa could be hit with a hurricane during next week_s Republican National Convention. , Meteorologists warn that Tropical Storm Isaac could develop into a hurricane and hit Tampa as early as Sunday. However, they also say that long range forecasts can be off by hundreds of miles so I guess we_ll see Rachelle.They were expecting this possibility though, right?That_s right. Scott jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles Harbor. Police have confirmed that they have recovered a suicide note from Scott_s office. Scott_s family, including his Oscar-winning brother Ridley Scott n has asked for privacy. An open seas collision has left dozens dead, a hundred or more injured, and local authorities asking: why?Here is the latest.It happened Monday night when one vessel, carrying more than one-hundred and twenty passengers to a fireworks show, slammed into a ferry, throwing dozens of people into the water. The ferry managed to make it back to port, but the other ship half-sank into the water.The incident is being called Hong Kong_s worst maritime disaster in decades. Authorities have arrested six people - three from each vessel who are believed to be responsible for the crash. 37 people are dead, while the number of missing remains unknown. In other news today, the Syrian government is accusing the United States and a handful of other countries of supporting terrorism. According to Syrian foreign minister Waleed Al-Mualem, the US along with France, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, have been shipping money, weapons, and soldiers into Syria in an attempt to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad.The accusations come on the last day of the annual UN General Assembly in New York. Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the ongoing violence in Syria. He called for an end to the fighting there in the strongest terms possible. According to the UN, nearly 300-thousand people have fled Syria to escape the bloodshed. And in Washington, the White House has confirmed that its servers have been targeted by a cyber-attack. An unclassified network was breached, but officials are confident that no sensitive information had been stolen.The White House announcement follows a report from the Washington Free Beacon that the hackers were working under the direction of the Chinese government. American officials would neither confirm nor deny whether the attacks were linked to China. It_s certainly not the first time we_ve heard about this type of thing and I_m sure it won_t be the last, Peyton. No but you can be sure Washington will be beefing up its web security. Putin served two terms as president until 2008, when term limits forced him to step down. US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu net-in-YAH-hoo met at the White House on Monday to discuss Iran_s nuclear program. The 2 leaders got together only a few hours after the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said the agency continues to have serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions. Let_s go now to Eila Adams for more on this story.EA) Vic, both men have made it clear that the Middle Eastern nation would be a genuine threat to Israel were it to develop nuclear weapon capabilities. Although Obama is stressing the continued use of diplomacy and sanctions, Netanyahu has refused to rule out a pre-emptive strike on Iran_s nuclear infrastructure. That being said, the Israeli leader has praised Obama for stressing that when it comes to keeping Tehran in check, all options are still on the table. EA) Here_s something you don_t hear very often - an actual APOLOGY from Rush Limbaugh. After a public outcry and the loss of several key sponsors, the conservative radio host is reeling in comments made last week about female contraception rights. Referring to law student Sandra Fluke_s congressional testimony, Limbaugh suggested she was a slut and a prostitute for wanting insurance companies to cover female birth control. He_s since recanted, at least SOMEWHAT, saying and i quote, My choice of words was not the best. And to put this in perspective Vic, as we all know he says a LOT of controversial things but he never apologizes. VS) Fascinating stuff, Eila. Have there been any rumblings that Limbaugh_s apology may be less about remorse and more about keeping his current advertisers? This was the only televised debate between the two leading up to this weekendis run-off vote. Analysts said that despite the aggressive arguing, neither candidate really trumped the other. But, the news is better for Rick Santorum. Around the same number of Republicans want him to keep up the fight. 2. RW) Republican front-runner Mitt Romney is making friends in all the right places with some HARSH words for Russian President Dmitry mehd-VEE-EHD-yehf). He called Russia America_s Number 1 geopolitical foe, after President Obama_s open mic remarks to the Russian President earlier this week. Obama told Medvedev that he_d have more flexibility in dealing with Russia in regards to a missile defense program after the election.PP) Romney didn_t waste any time responding, saying it was a sign that Obama will cave in to Russia. He went on to say Russia is not a friendly character on the world stage. Medvedev fired back, saying Romney should Use his head. He went on to say that it_s 2012 - not the mid 70s, and that Romney_s comments smelled like Hollywood.3. RW) A ReutersIpsis online poll says that the majority of Americans are unhappy with the way President Obama is handling rising gas prices. 68-percent of respondents say they disapproved with Obama_s response - a number that crosses party lines, which could spell bad news in an election year. However, they don_t necessarily BLAME him for the rising prices.PP) The most common reason cited was greedy oil companies, with 36-percent blaming them. A further 26-percent say that it_s a number of factors, including oil companies, politicians, foreign countries, and environmentalists. Gas prices have jumped 30 cents a gallon in the past month, to around 3-dollars and 90-cents a gallon.PP) Prices like these make me glad I don_t drive.RW) You_re lucky. Tide normally sells for between ten and twenty dollars, but you can get it for half that price on the streets Police in Virginia recently raided the home of a suspected cocaine dealer and found more liquid soap than drugs Meanwhile in Minnesota, police arrested a man and charged him with stealing 25-thousand dollars worth of the stuff over a fifteen month period Forget taking over the world, a Quebec man is demanding control of the entire solar system Sylvio Langevin (French pronunciation) filed a lawsuit demanding to be recognized as the planetary proprietor of Earth, the Sun, the other planets, and even a few moons for good measure. Sounds cute, but Quebec_s Superior Court judge was not impressed He_s declared Langevin to be a quarrelsome litigant, meaning he can_t file any more lawsuits without permission from a judge. EA) Meanwhile things are rapidly going from bad to worse in Syria. Locals feel that an all our war will be THRUST upon them sometime soon. Senior anchor Victoria Sinclair has more from Syria and joins us now with the latest. How_s it looking over there Vic?VS) Not good Eila. Syrians are bracing themselves for exactly what you just described, an all-out WAR in the beleaguered country. That is, if they_re not already part of one. The violence that has been crippling the country for the past year isn_t letting up, rather, it_s getting worse. According to one activist, snipers in Homs (HOHMS) are targeting civilians who are simply attempting to buy bread to feed themselves. Another claims that the shelling is happening randomly, making no place truly safe. There are claims that over 700 people have been killed in the last 10 days alone- the majority of them in Homs. In other news, crowds have gathered around a New Jersey funeral home where arrangements are being made for pop legend Whitney Houston. She_s scheduled to be laid to rest later this week, and rumours are swirling that a tribute will be held at the 18-thousand seat Prudential Center, home of the NHL_s New Jersey Devils. An autopsy has been performed, but authorities won_t release any details pending the results of a toxicology test, which will take 6 to 8 weeks. Those close to Houston say she was no longer an addict and are upset with the media coverage that has been focusing on her history of drug use. A tragic end to a troubled life EIla. Letis get right to the news, with word of a MASSIVE bailout in the Eurozone thatis giving the Spanish government some breathing room. NO) Eila, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy (mah-ree-AH-noh rah-HOY) is ecstatic over a HUGE bailout that_s aimed at rescuing their banks.EA) What kind of money are we talking about here? NO) It was a HUNDRED billion Euros which converts to about 125 billion dollars. EA) Wow, and here he was saying just a couple of weeks ago that Spain didn_t need a bailout. That_s MASSIVENO) And unlike Greece_ there aren_t many strings attached to the money. So YEAH, he_s a very happy man EIla. Welcome to the newsroom everone. Finance ministers in the Eurozone have agreed to lend Spain up to 125-BILLION dollars to bail out their failing banks. The country has been struggling under the weight of bad property loans and 2 recessions in the past 3 years. But theyire not out of trouble just yet. Despite the bailout n which will help small businesses and the self-employed n Rajoy says this will still be a rough year, with the Spanish economy shrinking by 1-point-7 percent. Add this to the current unemployment rate of over TWENTY percent and you see why Spain_s got a long way to go. A massive wildfire in Northern Colorado has forced thousands from their homes. The blaze was initially measured at just 2 acres early in the weekend, but has since expanded to an estimated TWENTY thousand acres. The wildfire has firefighters scrambling, trying to get local residents out of danger. So far, no fatalities have been reported. At least 18 buildings have been destroyed or damaged.Things could get scandalous within the Obama administration, after the US Secretary of Commerce was cited for 2 alleged hit-and-runs in California. Authorities claim John Brysonis Lexus was responsible for hitting a Buick twice in San Gabriel. He is also accused of hitting a second car in the nearby city of Rosemead. Authorities allegedly later found Bryson unconscious behind the wheel of his car. He was taken to a local hospital, but was released soon afterward. Initial tests came out negative for alcohol, but further tests are forthcoming. His office is saying that he had a seizure but that_s all we know right now Eila. EA) Do we know if we was on government business at the time Nat? NO) No he wasn_t. And because of it, he didn_t have a security detail either. EA) Bet the Republicans are frothing at the mouth with this one. Does this have anything to do with a recent episode of Thailand_s Got Talent?NO) That it does Peyton As you_re aware then, a female contestant took to the stage and did a little body painting in front of the judges. Seemed harmless enough, but now it_s turned into a national debate on morality.EA) Ahhh, sounds very Janet jackson, Superbowl-ESQUE, much ado about nothing if you ask me. NO) As I said, unfortunately they don_t appear to share our LIBERAL views, here_s the story ladies. NO) Welcome to the newsroom everyone. The producers of Thailand_s Got Talent have been summoned by the country_s Culture Minister to answer WHY a 23-year old female contestant was allowed to paint a picture on stage with her breasts. Nudity on TV is a big no-no in Thailand_s largely Buddhist and conservative society. The government could take stern action. Even the show_s judges were shocked by the display. One of them said it was totally inappropriate, which is ironic considering she_s posed nude in the past herself (insert image). They really need to lighten up In other NAKED news, we all know nudity_s not much of a problem in Europe, especially in Denmark. That_s where nearly 250 shoppers recently stripped down to their birthday suits in hopes of grabbing some free groceries. It was part of the grand opening promotion of a store. The first hundred naked shoppers to show up got 275 dollars in free food. They were only expecting a few people but were thrilled with the turnout. And a man who_s ALWAYS working with naked folk - Mr. Spencer Tunick is in the news once again. The famed photographer recently gathered 17-hundred nude models in Munich for a special shoot at Max-Joseph Platz, outside the city_s opera house. Tunick was there to shoot his interpretation of a famous Richard Wagner opera. The project was commissioned to help promote the launch of the Bavarian State Opera_s 2012 summer season.
